President Donald Trump on Wednesday pardoned former New York GOP Rep. Michael Grimm, who pleaded guilty to felony tax fraud, and commuted the sentence of a former Chicago gang leader.

Grimm represented Staten Island in the House from 2011 through 2015, and was convicted of tax fraud and related charges, which stemmed from his ownership of a Manhattan restaurant before joining Congress, per CBS News.

The former lawmaker only served eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to the crimes, and admitted he underreported employee salaries at the restaurant.

Trump also commuted the sentence of former Chicago gang leader Larry Hoover, who was serving multiple life sentences, and ordered the man to be released "immediately," according to the Chicago Tribune

The orders come the day after Trump pardoned reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were sentenced to prison in 2022 after being found guilty of fraud, obstruction of justice and federal tax evasion.
