President Donald Trump on Friday answered the seemingly difficult question on what a "woman" is, praising them as the "smarter" gender as he did so.

The question comes after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued new guidance that only recognizes two sexes, and defines sex as a person's "immutable biological classification."

A reporter asked the president for his definition of a "woman," and why its important to have two genders, during a press gaggle at the White House.

"Well, it's sort of easy to answer for me, because a woman is somebody that can have a baby, under certain circumstances," Trump said. "She has a quality - A woman is a person who is much smarter than a man, I've always found. A woman is a person that doesn't give a man even a chance of success.

"A woman is a person that, in many cases, has been treated very badly," he continued. "Because I think what happens with this crazy issue of men being able to play in women's sport is just ridiculous, and very unfair to women, and very demeaning to women."

Democrats have debated the question in recent years due to a rise in the transgender rights movement. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson even declined to give a clear answer to the question during her Senate confirmation hearing in 2022, asserting that she was "not a biologist."

The federal government has now declared that females are people "of the sex characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of producing eggs (ova)," and males are people "of the sex characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of producing sperm."
