Trump reassures Americans about his health ahead of Walter Reed visit: 'I think I'm in great shape'
"I think I'm in great shape, but I'll let you know," Trump told reporters. "I've had no difficulty thus far. Is there wood around here? Knock on wood. No difficulty. Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good."
President Donald Trump on Thursday attempted to reassure Americans about his health ahead of another medical appointment at the Walter Reed Medical Center that is scheduled for Friday, claiming that he believes he is in "great shape."
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Wednesday that the president was scheduled for an annual check-up at the medical center in Bethesda, Maryland. But it comes after Trump had his annual physical at Walter Reed in April.
The 79-year-old leader described the check-up as a "semi-annual physical," because of his earlier exam and said that he likes to get the check-ups whenever he is around.
"I think I'm in great shape, but I'll let you know," Trump told reporters. "I've had no difficulty thus far. Is there wood around here? Knock on wood. No difficulty. Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good."
The president said that his cognitive exam in April showed a perfect score, and his medical team at the time said Trump was in excellent health and his history of high cholesterol was under control.
Trump was diagnosed in July with chronic venous insufficiency in his lower legs, but White House physician U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbabella said the issue was benign and common.
