Trump says he will visit China in April, on invitation from President Xi Jinping
Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping extended the invitation during a phone call, which was a follow-up to the pair's meeting in South Korea last month.
President Donald Trump announced Monday he will visit China next April and that the diplomatic trip will be followed by a Chinese state visit to the United States later in the year.
Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping extended the invitation during a phone call, which was a follow-up to the pair's meeting in South Korea last month. The phone call also included discussions on the war in Ukraine, farming and the international trafficking of the drug fentanyl.
"We have done a good, and very important, deal for our Great Farmers — and it will only get better. Our relationship with China is extremely strong," Trump said on Truth Social. "Now we can set our sights on the big picture. To that end, President Xi invited me to visit Beijing in April, which I accepted, and I reciprocated where he will be my guest for a State Visit in the U.S. later in the year."
