US, Ukraine reach deal on war-torn country's rare earth minerals, Zelensky to White House
An administration official confirmed that a visit from Zelensky would be very possible.
President Donald Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will probably visit the White House on Friday to finalize a mineral-resources deal between the countries.
“I hear that he’s coming on Friday,” Trump said Tuesday in the Oval Office. “Certainly, it’s OK with me if he’d like to. He would like to sign it together with me.”
An administration official also said a visit soon from Zelensky would be very possible, according to the Politico news outlet.
The draft agreement is reportedly for the countries to jointly develop Ukraine’s mineral resources, including oil and gas. It also reported does not include an earlier U.S. demands for a right to $500 billion in potential revenue from the mining, according to the Financial Times, which first reported the deal.
