Trump signs spending bill to keep government funded through end of fiscal year

President Donald Trump signed a spending bill on Saturday into law to keep the government funded through the end of fiscal year 2025.

The Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 passed in the Senate on Friday. 

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has been the subject of harsh criticism from Democrats in Congress after deciding to vote to advance the bill, rather than encourage his party to block it using the filibuster.

The bill includes about $1 billion of cuts to Washington, D.C., which the city's mayor, Muriel Bowser, has heavily criticized. The GOP-led Senate passed a separate bill to restore the funding. It is unclear when it will be voted on in the GOP-led House.
