President Donald Trump and nearly two dozen Republican state Attorneys General on Monday urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to schedule a confirmation hearing for Trump nominee and interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin.

The Senate has less than a month to confirm Martin or else the Democratic-led panel on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia can name a new interim U.S. attorney until the Senate confirms a nominee, per Fox News. The current chief judge for the district court is Judge James Boasberg, who has gone against Trump on previous orders.

Heritage Oversight Project Executive Director Mike Howell warned Republicans that Monday was the last day the Senate can take the first step toward confirming Martin, citing the chamber's rules because of the tight deadline.

"Today is the last day to take the critical first procedural step to advance [Ed Martin]," he posted to X. "If it's not taken, he won't get in before his time expires on May 20. But keep the faith!  It would be shocking if the Senate didn't advance President Trump's favorite US Attorney!"

Trump also pushed Senate Republicans to rush through the confirmation process, claiming Martin would be a "big player" in his "Making America Healthy Again" agenda.

"Ed Martin is going through the approval process to be U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia," Trump posted to Truth Social. "According to many but, in particular, [Health and Human Services Secretary] Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., his approval is IMPERATIVE in terms of doing all that has to be done to SAVE LIVES and to, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN.

"I hope, that the Republican Senators will make a commitment to his approval, which is now before them," he continued. "Ed is coming up on the deadline for Voting and, if approved, HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. When some day in the future you look back at your Vote for Ed Martin, you will be very proud of what you have done for America and America’s Health."
