President Donald Trump was forced to switch helicopters earlier Thursday after Marine One experienced "hydraulic issues" that forced an emergency landing in London.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump were both on the helicopter at the time of the emergency landing and had been traveling from Chequers to London‘s Stansted Airport after meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the issue was considered minor and that the president and first lady were safely transferred to a support helicopter, Fox News reported

"Out of an abundance of caution, the pilots landed at a local airfield before reaching Stansted Airport," Leavitt said. "The president and first lady safely boarded the support helicopter."

The issue occurred on the last day of Trump's second state visit to the United Kingdom, where he met with British leaders, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Trump is expected to land in the United States on Thursday evening.
