The White House announced Friday that former Palestinian Authority Deputy Minister Dr. Ali Sha’ath will serve as the head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which is expected to oversee daily life in the Gaza Strip.

The committee will work alongside the new Board of Peace and is expected to oversee the restoration of core public services in Gaza, the rebuilding of civil institutions, and the stabilization of daily life in Gaza.

Sha'ath previously served as the authority’s deputy minister of planning and international cooperation, and as undersecretary for the ministry of transportation and communications, according to the Times of Israel.

"Dr. Sha’ath brings deep experience in public administration, economic development, and international engagement, and is widely respected for his pragmatic, technocratic leadership and understanding of Gaza’s institutional realities," the White House said.

The White House also named Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to the Gaza Board of Peace executive board.

Trump is expected to lead the Board of Peace, which was officially formed Thursday, which has been tasked with overseeing the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip and the implementation of Trump's Gaza peace plan.

The White House said the executive board members are leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure, and economic strategy.

"Each Executive Board member will oversee a defined portfolio critical to Gaza’s stabilization and long-term success, including, but not limited to, governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization," the White House said in a statement.

Other members of the executive board include billionaire Marc Rowan, Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
