Senate Republicans confirm dozens of Trump nominees to civilian roles
The en-bloc vote means that the Senate has confirmed more than 60% of the president's civilian nominees and marks the fourth time the Senate has used new rules to bypass the filibuster since last year.
Senate Republicans confirmed Monday the latest batch of President Donald Trump's nominees for civilian roles in several departments, which consisted of dozens of nominees.
The en-bloc vote means that the Senate has confirmed more than 60% of the president's civilian nominees and marks the fourth time the Senate has used new rules to bypass the filibuster since last year.
Senate Republicans confirmed 49 nominees in the latest slew, which includes nominees for roles in the departments of War, Transportation and Energy, along with a dozen U.S. attorneys, several U.S. marshals and U.S. ambassadors, according to Fox News.
The tactic to confirm Trump nominees through a simple majority rather than 60 votes means that the Senate has now confirmed more than 400 of the president's candidates. The number is greater than the 323 nominees he had confirmed in his first term, and the 365 candidates former President Joe Biden had confirmed in his term.
