Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday warned representatives of dozens of nations of a growing threat of left-wing terrorism and urged countries to work together to combat it.

Rubio made the remarks at a summit in Washington, D.C., and invoked prior coalitions to combat Islamic terrorism as a model for international cooperation.

"We can and we must identify and map this threat and rebuild our counterterrorism architecture to defeat it," he said, according to Reuters.

The administration has, in recent months, zeroed in on left-wing organizations in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, was reportedly motivated by Kirk's criticism of transgender ideology.

Other left-wing incidents, particularly by Antifa cells opposed to immigration enforcement, have led to fatalities. The Department of Justice recently prosecuted members of an Antifa cell responsible for violence at a Texas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.
