GOP field to replace Democrat Walz as Minnesota governor tightens amid double-digit Klobuchar lead
Kristin Robbins said that the data showed that Democratic Sen. Klobuchar has been chosen as the "anointed candidate to replace" Gov. Tim Walz, and she saw no path for her to win.
Kristin Robbins, the Minnesota Republican lawmaker running in the governor's race, announced Friday she's ending her campaign.
Robbins told Fox News that Gov. Tim Walz, who dropped out of the race after allegations of widespread fraud under his watch came to light, had "destroyed" the state. She felt she made a solid case that he shouldn't have a third term.
However, Robbins said, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, one of six Democrats running in the gubernatorial race, has been chosen by the "establishment" as their "anointed candidate to replace" Walz.
"I'm a realist, and I am a numbers person, and when I look at the math, I don't see a path for me to win," Robbins said.
She was essentially in second place among Republican candidates in hypothetical, one-on-one match-ups with Klobuchar, trailing her by 15 percentage points, according to the most recent RealClearPoitics.com polling average.
She said that all her work on the House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee was ahead of schedule, and she is planning further investigation into how billions in fraud went unchecked for so long.
Seven other Republican candidates are still in the primary race, including MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell and Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth.
