Republican leaders honored the late Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk on Thursday, the one-year anniversary of his death, at the 2026 midterm convention in Texas.

Convention organizers played a tribute video in honor of the late conservative, who was assassinated at a Turning Point USA rally in Utah last year.

"They can take the man, but they cannot take the vision," Pastor Lucas Miles of Turning Point USA Faith said in remarks. "No one will ever replace Charlie Kirk. He had a remarkable vision and the rare ability to bring people together. People who would not normally agree, factions that would normally be torn apart in different directions.

"He understood how to build coalitions, how to appeal to our shared convictions, without demanding uniformity," he added.

Vice President JD Vance is also expected to reflect on his friendship with Kirk during his keynote address, according to multiple reports.

The tributes come as thousands gather nationwide at memorials in honor of Kirk. Turning Point USA unveiled an 8-foot-tall statue in honor of Kirk at their headquarters in Phoenix, FOX10 reported, and another statue will be unveiled in New York City this week.
