Burchett says Trump admin will start releasing UFO files on Friday
President Donald Trump ordered War Secretary Pete Hegseth last month to begin releasing the government's files on UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena.
Tennessee GOP Rep. Tim Burchett revealed Thursday that there is just one more day to wait until the Trump administration releases its first batch of UFO files, which is expected to include material from pilots.
President Donald Trump ordered War Secretary Pete Hegseth last month to begin releasing the government's files on UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena. Trump initially promised in February to order the release of the files after he criticized former President Barack Obama for divulging "classified information" when he said he believes aliens are real.
Burchett said the long-awaited files will start being released Friday, after he attended a West Wing meeting as part of the House Oversight Committee’s task force on the declassification of federal secrets.
“It’s going to start tomorrow. It’s going to have some stuff in there from pilots, and maybe one video,” Burchett told independent journalist Jeremy Corbell in a conversation shared with the New York Post.
The lawmaker said the files will be released in waves, with each batch coming a week apart. The first batch will be limited and does not include videos that Congress urged the administration to release.
“I totally support and am grateful to President Trump for keeping his word and being the president of transparency and disclosure,” Burchett told the outlet. “I would like to remind people that transparency won’t all happen at once, it will take some time.”
The White House has not publicly confirmed the timeline, but the topic comes after a Pentagon report in 2024 revealed an increase in sightings but no evidence of space aliens.
