Texas court cuts $50M judgment against Alex Jones's InfoWars to $1.5 million

Alex Jones's InfoWars scored a legal win after a Texas judge reduced a $50 million judgment against the company to a mere $1.5 million.

The case is one of several linked to Jones's claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax. 

Friday's decision saw the state's Third Court of Appeals determine that a pair of parents had not shown that they experienced harassment from Jones's claim to an extent that justified breaking the $750,000 damages cap, according to the Associated Press.

That decision reduced the judgment to $750,000 per plaintiff, for a total of $1.5 million.

The case is separate from the Connecticut case that saw the court award $1.4 billion to a group of victims' parents. 

Jones is primarily known as a conspiracy theorist and founder of the InfoWars network, a digital media outlet known for far-right commentary.
