King Charles III will meet with New York City's socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani next week during his first trip to the United States as Britain's monarch.

The British royal is expected to arrive in the United States on Monday, where President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will host a private tea for the king and Queen Camilla. The king will then address Congress on Tuesday.

King Charles is then expected to meet with Mamdani for a wreath-laying ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Wednesday, according to The Hill, but the pair will not meet privately.

“He was invited to join a number of New York elected officials next week at a wreath laying at the 9/11 memorial with members of the British royal family,” Mamdani spokesperson Joe Calvello said.

The trip marks the first time a British monarch has visited the United States since the late-Queen Elizabeth II came to the U.S. in 2007. The royal visit is intended to commemorate the U.S.'s 250th anniversary.

The British monarch is expected to return to England on Thursday.
