Trump argues White House ballroom critics from nonprofit 'revealed top military secrets'

President Donald Trump accused the nonprofit National Trust for Historic Preservation of exposing sensitive military information by challenging the ballroom construction project at the White House, sharply criticizing the group and a woman he described as an activist plaintiff.

In a post, Trump called those behind the lawsuit “TREASONISTS” and alleged they had “revealed Top Military Secrets.” He said the organization had been warned by the military not to pursue the case because of the classified nature of the facility.

“They were shown detailed plans and specifications of this knitted, unified, and cohesive structure by Top Officers and Leaders in both the Military and Secret Service,” Trump wrote. “But this did not deter them.”

Trump argued that the ballroom project is essential for presidential security, saying the facility would provide a secure space for presidents, their families, staff and cabinet officials.

He also attacked the National Trust's former president, Carol Quillen, claiming she lacked a background in historic preservation and had been “replaced, unanimously, effective immediately.” 

Trump further accused the lawsuit of exposing sensitive features of the project, including what he described as a “DronePort” occupying the building's roof.

Trump also questioned whether a woman who walks her dog near the White House had legal standing to challenge the project.

“There is absolutely no argument that a woman walking her dog in the vicinity of the White House has STANDING to stop such a desperately needed National Security structure,” Trump wrote.

He accused the woman of being an “activist, or serial plaintiff” and argued that she had no expertise in national security or presidential protection.
