Trump officially nominates Hung Cao as Navy Secretary

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that he is officially nominating acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao to the post full-time, months after he was elevated to the job.

Cao, who is a Navy veteran, took over the post in April on an interim basis after former Navy Secretary John Phelan departed the administration. 

Trump urged the Senate to confirm Cao as Navy Secretary as quickly as possible.

"I am pleased to nominate a true warrior, Hung Cao, to become the next Secretary of the Navy," Trump said on Truth Social. "We need Patriots like Hung leading our Navy and Marine Corps, and I can think of no one better than him to make sure our Great Navy and Marine Corps remain the fiercest and best force the world has ever seen. 

"The Senate needs to confirm this Warfighter, ASAP, so he can continue the fantastic work he has been doing over the past 4 months," he added. "Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
