Vance to hold first White House press briefing since Karoline Leavitt departed administration

Vice President JD Vance is expected to host the first White House press briefing on Thursday since former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt departed the administration last month.

The White House press office confirmed the schedule Wednesday, continuing the administration's recent tradition of having major administration figures behind the press podium until Leavitt's successor is selected.

Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were among the administration officials to fill in for Leavitt when she was out on maternity leave earlier this year.

Leavitt gave birth to her second child recently and stated in her departure that she wants to spend more time with her kids.

The vice president is expected to speak to the press at 1 p.m. Eastern.
