Todd Blanche announces charges against 10 foreigners for allegedly voting illegally

Attorney General Todd Blanche on Wednesday announced charges against 10 foreign nationals in Minnesota related to alleged illegal voting and registration.

"We are announcing that a federal grand jury returned indictments against 10 foreign nationals alleged to have committed unlawful voting and registration offenses in the state of Minnesota," he said. The indictments include nine counts of illegal voting by an alien and nine counts of making false claims of citizenship to register to vote.

The alleged illegal voting included the 2022, 2024, and the 2026 primaries. The foreign nationals charged hail from Brazil, Ghana, and Liberia.

Minnesota, in particular, has faced considerable scrutiny over alleged fraud by foreign nationals in the wake of an immigration enforcement surge in Minneapolis earlier this year.

The Trump administration, for its part, has increasingly explored the flow of public funds to individuals and organizations in the state, with the Somali expat community drawing particular attention.
