Florida judge rejects request to remove Florida Rep Cory Mills from GOP primary ballot

A Florida judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit seeking to remove Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., from the Republican primary ballot after a competitor for the party nomination said he had failed to properly qualify.

Circuit Court Judge J. Lee Marsh dismissed the suit, according to Politico. His opponent, Michael Johnson, had challenged his eligibility.

“Ultimately the voters are entitled to choose as long as people meet the requirements of office,” the judge said.

Mills has faced a barrage of poor media coverage amid allegations of sexual blackmail and a probe by the House Ethics Committee.
