Law enforcement has arrested more than 100 people in Washington, D.C., since President Donald Trump on Monday announced his assumption of direct federal control of the Metropolitan Police Department.
A White House official confirmed to Fox News that the arrest total had reached 103, including 43 Tuesday arrests. The development comes as Trump has also deployed the National Guard to the city in a bid to crack down on crime and homelessness in the nation's capital.
"In less than one week, over 100 violent criminals have already been arrested and taken off of the streets in Washington, D.C. President Trump is delivering on his campaign promise to clean up this city and restore American Greatness to our cherished capital," a White House spokesperson told the outlet.
Trump's crackdown followed a string of high-profile criminal incidents, including the murder of a former administration official, the shooting death of a congressional intern, and the mob assault on former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staff Edward "big balls" Coristine.
