The Delta Air Lines co-pilot who was arrested on a flight after landing in San Francisco was charged with child sex crimes.

The co-pilot, 34-year-old Florida resident Rustom Bhagwagar, was arrested by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office after arriving at San Francisco International Airport from Minneapolis on Saturday night, KRON4 reported. Agents from Homeland Security Investigations assisted by giving Contra Costa County deputies access to the plane to make the arrest.

Bhagwagar was booked on five counts of oral copulation with a child under 10 years old, according to law enforcement. Sheriff's office officials said on Monday that he is being held on $5 million bail.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office has been investigating Bhagwagar since April and had secured an arrest warrant for him.

Contra Costa County is in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.

At least 10 officers were seen charging the cockpit of the plane on Saturday, following Bhagwagar's arrest. Initial reports indicated that the charges were related to child sexual abuse material.

A Delta spokesperson told KRON4 on Monday, “Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful conduct and will fully cooperate with law enforcement.”

“We are appalled by reports of the charges related to the arrest and the individual in question has been suspended pending an investigation,” the spokesperson added.

Bhagwagar reportedly once resided in the East Bay and was booked into Martinez Jail.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said the investigation is still ongoing.
