Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was charged on Friday with attempted murder related to a shooting incident in Florida, according to a warrant for his arrest.

Brown, who spent most of his professional football career with the Pittsburgh Steelers before moving to Tampa Bay, has a rocky legal past. He has been accused beating a truck driver in the past, and has faced several domestic violence charges.

The most recent incident accuses the former football player of grabbing a gun from a security officer after fighting a man, identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, last month in Miami and firing two shots at him, per the Associated Press.

“Cellphone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing toward Mr. Nantambu on the outside sidewalk," the warrant alleges. "The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu.”

Brown has claimed that he was "jumped" by Nantambu, who was trying to steal his jewelry.

The former NFL star also published cryptic social media posts on X on Friday after news broke that he was wanted for attempted murder, including a post that he hashtagged "love from the Middle East," along with a video of him on a bicycle.

Brown is not currently in custody.

He has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, and a fine of up to $10,000.
