Man pleads guilty in federal court after over 150 homemade pipe bombs seized from his home last year

Reportedly, the words “lethal” and “concussion” were written on some of the improvised explosive devices. The man faces up to 10 years in prison for each charge.

A Virginia man pleaded guilty last week in federal court, after federal agents seized about 155 homemade pipe bombs from his home last year.

The 36-year-old, Brad Spafford, faces up to 10 years in prison for each charge and is scheduled for sentencing on December 18. 

Agents also found an unregistered short-barrel rifle and other bomb-making equipment in Spafford’s home. 

Reportedly, the words “lethal” and “concussion” were written on some of the improvised explosive devices. 

According to FOX 5 DC, the items found in Spafford’s home were “possibly the largest cache of explosives ever confiscated by the FBI…”
