Trump attacks Democrats on law and order, says Harris 'let San Francisco die'
The former president said there should be prison sentences for things like burning the American flag, and that drug dealers should get death sentences because they allegedly kill hundreds of people in their lifetime.
Donald Trump laid into the Democratic Party on Friday for targeting him with multiple criminal investigations when other serious crimes are being committed in the country.
Trump has been charged in four different criminal cases since leaving the Oval Office in 2020, including allegations that he mishandled classified documents, and allegations he conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The former president said there should be prison sentences for things like burning the American flag, which is considered a legal form of protest, and that drug dealers should get death sentences because they allegedly kill hundreds of people in their lifetime.
"The only thing they go after is guys like Trump because he protests an election," Trump said during a speech in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. "They don't go after criminals. They don't go after people that kill people. They don't go after drug dealers that kill on average, 500 people during their lifetime. So if a drug dealer kills 500 people, the only thing they would understand would be the death penalty. If you had the death penalty for drug dealers, you wouldn't have any more drugs."
He also specifically targeted Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, "she let San Francisco die. She destroyed probably the greatest city." Harris served as the district attorney for San Francisco and has touted her record on crime.
Trump claimed that he asked Chinese President Xi Jinping whether China had a drug problem, and he was told they do not because they have the death penalty for drug offenses.
"We have to do something about [the country's drug problem], because we are becoming a drug infested nation," Trump said. "We're going to have to end it, because we're really a country that is a failing nation in a lot of ways. What they've done to our country is incredible."
