A woman accused of driving onto a sidewalk in an attempt to run down a boy who was riding his dirt bike was released from jail the day after her arrest.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, Wendy A. Clemente, 56, tried to hit the boy with her sedan on Monday. Witnesses captured video of the car chasing the boy down a sidewalk, and deputies identified Clemente as a suspect.

They responded to a second call about a suspected burglary a mile away when a man reported that he saw on his security cameras a woman was trying to enter his home. When deputies arrived, they found Clement at the location and took her into custody, FOX News reported

Clement denied any wrongdoing and told deputies she was trying to find other dogs for her own to play with. She said she had no recollection of the incident with the boy on the dirt bike. Deputies say Clement showed signs of impairment, and when they tried to put her into a patrol car, she resisted.

Clement was charged with attempted first-degree assault, DUI and first-degree criminal trespass. A court commissioner released her on her own recognizance the following day. The boy wasn't injured in the incident.
