Alec Baldwin pleads not guilty to involuntary manslaughter over 'Rust' shooting

Alec Baldwin on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge stemming from the on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin was initially charged last year over the 2021 shooting, though the charges were dropped. He was again indicted earlier this month. Baldwin, in October of 2021, pointed a loaded gun on set, killing Hutchins and injuring "Rust" director Joel Souza. He has denied pulling the trigger.
Court records reviewed by The Hill reveal that Baldwin waived a planned arraignment in filing the plea with the Santa Fe district court. "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed also faces charges stemming from the incident.
In October 2022, Baldwin settled with Matthew Hutchins, Halyna's widower, to complete the film, which remains unreleased.
"All of us believe Halyna's death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna's final work," Matthew Hutchins said at the time.
