Ric Grenell is set to step down as the executive director of the Trump Kennedy Center on Monday, according to a report.

President Trump said Friday that Matt Floca, subject to the approval of the center's board of directors, will replace Grennel at the performing arts center in Washington, D.C., as chief operating officer and executive director.

The leadership change is expected to occur at a Trump Kennedy Center Board of Directors meeting at the White House on Monday, Axios reported.

Trump tapped Grenell for the role last year, but the leadership change comes amid a two-year closure for renovations on the performing arts center that will begin this summer.

The Trump Kennedy Center board is expected to approve the shutdown during its meeting on Monday, according to the news outlet.

The change comes after a tumultuous year for the center, which saw the board add the president's name to the venue, prompting major backlash and an exodus of some of the center's staples, including the Washington National Opera.
