West Virginia GOP Gov. Patrick Morrisey is criticizing the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament selection committee for not including the West Virginia University men's basketball team in the group's annual college basketball tournament – calling the matter a "miscarriage of justice."

Morrisey said in a social media post Monday the snub also "reeks of corruption," referencing allegations Bubba Cunningham, the University of North Carolina athletic director who is chairman of the NCAA tournament selection committee, allegedly received incentives if his school's team made the tournament, which it did.

Cunningham said that as chairman of the selection committee, he was not part of any debate that included UNC, according to ESPN.com.

Morrisey said it was "too soon for litigation." But the matter is also of concern to state Attorney General JB McCuskey, who said he'd like to know exactly how the 68 teams picked for the tournament are selected.

The WVU Mountaineers finished the regular season with a 19-13 record.

"What we are asking for is a level of detail and a level of transparency, level of accountability, so teams like West Virginia can plan in the future and say, 'What are we supposed to do to get into the tournament?'" he said. "We need to know what they are looking for."
