Franklin Graham meets with Zelensky in Berlin, offers prayer for peace in Russia-Ukraine war
"The complications in Ukraine and Russia are very difficult, and I believe only God can solve this," Franklin Graham said.
Franklin Graham, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin, offering prayers for peace in the Russia-Ukraine war.
"Today I had the privilege of meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin and to have prayer with him," Graham posted on Facebook on Wednesday. "I prayed for him, and I also prayed for President Vladimir Putin and President Donald J. Trump—that God would give these leaders wisdom and give them a path forward to peace. The complications in Ukraine and Russia are very difficult, and I believe only God can solve this."
Graham's meeting with Zelensky occurred before the European Congress on Evangelism on Wednesday, in which the evangelist addressed over 1,000 Christian leaders from 55 countries, Fox News reported. The congress, which ends Friday, includes over 20 speakers from 13 nations and is being translated into 10 languages.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid that Samaritan’s Purse provided, including support for Ukrainian children, displaced individuals and medical institutions.
"We are very grateful for the strong support from the American people, the White House and President Trump," Zelensky said. "Thank you for your prayers and for helping people."
The European Congress on Evangelism that Graham spoke at hadn't met in 25 years.
"What a moment for Europe, and what a time to boldly proclaim Christ," Graham said.
Graham's late father, Billy Graham, held the first World Congress on Evangelism, in Berlin in 1966.
