Gov. Tim Walz says he was joking about enjoying watching Tesla's stock drop
"This guy bugs me in a way that’s probably unhealthy," Walz said, referencing Tesla CEO Elon Musk
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said in a video circulating on social media on Saturday that he was kidding when saying he liked watching Tesla's stock fall.
"This guy bugs me in a way that’s probably unhealthy," Walz said, referencing Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is heading up President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency.
"I have to be careful about being a smarta--. I was making a joke. These people have no sense of humor. They are the most literal people," he added.
Walz continued, saying, "They're all mad, and I said something I probably shouldn't have about a company."
His comments were made during an event in Rochester.
Earlier in the week, Waltz, who ran with former Vice President Kamala Harris against Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, was in Wisconsin when he discussed Tesla's stock dropping as a result of Musk's work with DOGE.
"Some of you know this. On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping," Walz said. "And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off."
