Pastor Duane Sheriff: "There is a spirit of darkness over our country that has to be broken"
On this episode of the podcast, host Amanda Head talks with pastor and author, Duane Sheriff. During this conversation Pastor Duane Sheriff talks about his early aspirations of becoming a professional tennis player. However, the Lord had different plans for him as he ended up dropping out of college, marrying his wife, Sue and moving to Oklahoma to attend Rhema Bible College. Following his time at Rhema, they moved to Atoka, Oklahoma (OK) where he began Duane Sheriff Ministries.
Beginning in 1987 Pastor Duane became the Senior Lead Pastor at Victory Life Church in Durant, OK and since 2020 he’s passed the leadership of the church to his son and currently serves as a Senior Elder and one of the lead communicators. Pastor Duane Sheriff and his ministry has distributed nearly 60 million free messages worldwide through the last several decades, but he says his favorite message to teach is the new creation out of 2 Corinthians 5:17; the death of the old man and the resurrection of the new man.
He accredits his success in communication to spending one-on-one time with people. However, when he doesn’t agree with someone, he doesn’t reject or condemn them, rather, righteous judgement by man is simply God within us. But, as he stresses, it’s important to judge yourself before projecting judgement onto others around you.
Exclusive message within: “So many Christians are afraid they’re going to be rejected, that they go ahead and withhold the truth and you don’t have a right to do that as a Christian. You’re obligated by God to share the truth, just share it in love, meaning, ‘I care about you, even if you’re going to reject me, I’m not going to reject you.’” - Pastor Duane Sheriff
