'Biden has failed Wisconsin': Trump hits Biden on crime, cost of living in latest campaign ad

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday released an attack ad against President Joe Biden, pointing to rising crime and cost of living in the Dairy State.

"Crooked Joe Biden has failed Wisconsin," the ad stated, before lamenting "record-high gas prices," "surging prices," "sky-high food costs," and asserting that "the American dream [is] out of reach." It went on to highlight "[a]n overwhelming border crisis" and concluded with the message "[i]t's time to fire Biden."

Interspersed between the 1:44 ad's written messages were news clips highlighting adverse conditions and criminal activity by alleged illegal immigrants in Wisconsin. The Dairy State remains a pivotal battleground in the 2024 election. Trump narrow flipped Wisconsin red in 2016, though he ultimately lost it to Biden in 2020. he currently leads his Democratic rival in that state by a narrow, 47.4% to 47.3% margin, according to RealClearPolitics.

Some of the ad included reports on crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants. That line of attack comes as the Trump campaign has mounted separate criticisms of Biden's "parole in place" program that the administration estimates could provide a pathway to permanent residence for as many as 500,000 illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens.

"This week, we learned an illegal alien from El Salvador who Crooked Joe Biden allowed into our country murdered a mother of five while she was on a run in Maryland, and we learned an illegal alien from Ecuador tied up and raped a 13-year-old girl at knifepoint in broad daylight," Trump Campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a press release from the same day.

"But Biden doesn’t care about the American lives that will forever be destroyed by the illegal criminals he is importing; and Biden doesn’t care that law-abiding taxpayers, crushed by inflation, are forced to pay for free food, housing, and healthcare for illegals," she added. "Biden only cares about one thing — power — and that’s why he is giving mass amnesty and citizenship to hundreds of thousands of illegals who he knows will ultimately vote for him and the Open Border Democrat Party."
