Trump calls New York AG James a 'political hack' at news conference following civil fraud trial
Trump added that James had a "serious Trump derangement syndrome" and that the prosecutors lacked evidence.
Former President Donald Trump spoke at a news conference following his civil fraud trial Thursday where he called New York Attorney General Letitia James a "political hack."
He also added that James had a "serious Trump derangement syndrome" and that the prosecutors lacked evidence, according to NBC News.
James is asking the court to bring a fine of more than $370 million against Trump and to ban him and his two eldest sons from working as officials of any company in the state.
Trump spoke briefly during closing arguments in the trial Thursday, but was cut short by the judge.
The trial dealt specifically with damages after Judge Engoron determined last fall that Trump could be held responsible for inflating his net worth for years in an effort to secure better loans and insurance deals.
Trump referred to what was happening as election interference.
"It's a witch hunt in the truest sense of the word. It's election interference," he said, later adding that "it's like we're a third-world country, a banana republic."
