Trump clears 70% support for GOP nomination in key metric
Haley has declined to end her campaign while Trump's team has largely redirected its focus toward the general election.
After claiming victory in the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary, former President Donald Trump has cleared a major polling milestone, suggesting that the GOP is rallying around his prospective status as the party nominee despite the lingering presence of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Trump currently enjoys 70.3% support in the RealClearPolitics polling average, an all-time high in that metric. Haley, for her part, claims 12.6% support. The metric still includes several surveys showing support for Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, both of whom dropped out after the Iowa Caucus and endorsed Trump.
DeSantis still claims 10.6% while Ramaswamy commands 4.3%.
Notably, only two of the average's component survey feature only Haley and Trump. A Reuters/Ipsos survey shows Trump leading Haley 64-19 while a Morning Consult poll showed the race at 81-18.
Haley has declined to end her campaign while Trump's team has largely redirected its focus toward the general election. Trump on Thursday, however, urged the RNC to reject a draft resolution that would declare him the presumptive nominee, insisting he needed to win the contest through traditional means.
