Trump delays signing executive order on AI: 'didn't like certain aspects of it'

President Donald Trump has delayed signing an executive order on artificial intelligence to address cyber security concerns.

“I didn’t like certain aspects of it," he said Thursday. "I postponed it. ... We’re leading China. We’re leading everybody, and I don’t want to do anything that’s going to get in the way of that."

The order was intended to address rising concerns about cybersecurity threats posed by advanced AI models. It would have included a voluntary review of those models as much as 90 days prior to their release, Politico reported. 

Trump also said that AI was providing "tremendous good" and creating jobs, but the order would have been more of an impediment than a benefit to the growing industry. 

The White House hasn't said if the order will be revised and a signing rescheduled.
