Trump nominates Ed Martin for US attorney in DC
Trump praised Martin's "distinguished" career in a post on Truth Social, which included a stint as human rights office director for the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis.
President Donald Trump on Monday formally nominated interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C. Ed Martin to officially fill the position for his new administration.
Martin has previously worked to help Jan. 6 defendants and the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in their respective legal fights, including by helping to orchestrate the pardons of hundreds of people convicted for their actions on January 6. He has also been a strong Trump ally.
Trump praised Martin's "distinguished" career in a post on Truth Social, which included a stint as human rights office director for the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis.
"It is my honor to nominate highly respected Edward R. Martin, Jr., for the full and permanent term of United States Attorney for the District of Columbia," Trump wrote. “Since Inauguration Day, Ed has been doing a great job as Interim U.S. Attorney, fighting tirelessly to restore Law and Order, and make our Nation’s Capital Safe and Beautiful Again. He will get the job done."
Martin will still need to be confirmed by the Republican-led Senate.
