American Eagle stock surges after Trump lauds Sydney Sweeney ad campaign
American Eagle, meanwhile, has stood by its campaign and rejected accusations of pushing a political agenda.
American Eagle stock surged Monday after President Donald Trump lauded the company's ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney.
As of press time, the stock surged 22.67% in a single day, with a discernible spike following Trump's public statements.
"Sydney Sweeney has great jeans" went viral as liberals derided the campaign as Nazi-adjacent. Meanwhile, conservatives have cheered the campaign as a cultural victory in light of the company featuring an attractive woman as the brand's model, as opposed to an obese minority.
Trump himself issued a public statement of support for Sweeney and the campaign following reports that she has been registered with the Republican Party of Florida since 2024.
"Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'HOTTEST' ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get ‘em Sydney!," Trump posted on Truth Social.
Sweeney has generally remained private about her political views and hasn't issued a response as of press time. American Eagle, meanwhile, has stood by its campaign and rejected accusations of pushing a political agenda.
