Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon called for a special counsel to review the Epstein files after the Department of Justice declined to release significant new information on matter, to the chagrin of MAGA supporters.

The DOJ's decision prompted outrage from Trump supporters in light of repeated promises from Trump officials to release the information on the late billionaire, his apparent suicide, and the inner workings of his sex-trafficking operation.

Speaking this week on "War Room", Bannon expressed frustration with the development and urged the administration to "go to the court and demand and unseal the sealed evidence in Epstein."

"Bundle everything together you’ve got sealed and unsealed, and release it all," he said. “Or, which I called for yesterday, appoint a special prosecutor."

Special prosecutors have become increasingly common in recent years, with special counsels Robert Mueller and Jack Smith investigating President Donald Trump, special counsel Robert Hur investigating President Joe Biden, and special counsel David Weiss investigating Hunter Biden.
