Blanche places criminals on notice during speech in Texas, warning they will be held accountable

Attorney General Todd Blanche gave a sweeping warning Wednesday night to criminals that they would be held accountable under the Trump administration, claiming it would make "America safe again." 

The speech occurred during the first night of the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. The two-night event will also feature speeches from other GOP heavyweights, including President Donald Trump.

The attorney general highlighted the administration's efforts to combat serious crime and placed criminals on notice.

"If you traffic children, you will be held accountable," Blanche said. "If you sell death in a pill, you will be held accountable. If you choose violence, you will be held accountable. And if you steal from people who work hard and pay taxes, you will be held accountable. Now that is making America safe again."

Blanche was sworn in as attorney general last month, replacing former Attorney General Pam Bondi in the role. 

The attorney general's remarks came toward the end of the first night, which will conclude with a keynote address from the president. Vice President JD Vance will deliver the keynote address on Thursday.

The political convention is aimed at garnering Republican enthusiasm as voters head to the polls in November for the midterm elections. Republicans are hoping to maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
