Crockett concedes to Talarico in Texas Democratic Senate primary election
“Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett said
Rep. Jasmine Crockett on Wednesday conceded to James Talarico in the Texas Democratic Senate primary election.
Crockett called on the Democratic Party to unify behind Talarico, a state representative, who clinched the nomination overnight, The Associated Press reported.
“Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person,” Crockett said in a statement. “This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track.”
Crockett’s campaign had previously suggested that she would sue over voting challenges in the primary election. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to the AP's request for comment about those plans.
In the general election, Talarico will face the winner of the May GOP runoff election, either Sen. John Cornyn or state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
