Democratic Senator Bennet to announce run for Colorado governor

Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet is expected to launch a bid for Colorado as early as Friday. 

Sources told the news outlet Axios that Bennet will likely keep his Senate seat while campaigning for governor.

Bennet will be facing Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser in the Democratic gubernatorial primary. 

Current Democratic Gov. Jared Polis is term limited and has already served two terms as governor. 

Bennet is serving his third term as Colorado's senator.
