Elon Musk urges New Yorkers to vote for Cuomo, derides leader as 'Mumdumi'

Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Monday urged New York City voters to vote for former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo for mayor on Tuesday instead of Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, stating a vote for Sliwa would be a vote for Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani, who calls himself a democratic socialist, became the Democratic nominee this past summer, forcing Cuomo to run as an independent. Mamdani currently leads in the polls, with Cuomo trailing in second place. However, if Sliwa supporters were to instead vote for Cuomo, he could defeat Mamdani.
Another factor is that there were more than 700,000 ballots cast in early voting, the most ever in the city for a non-presidential election.

"Remember to vote tomorrow in New York," Musk posted on X. "Bear in mind that a vote for Curtis is really a vote for Mumdumi or whatever his name is. VOTE CUOMO!"
The race is just one of several notable elections on Tuesday. New Jersey will be electing its governor, along with Virginia, while California voters will decide whether they want their state to redraw congressional maps.
