Former Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers announces another bid for Senate
Rogers ran for Senate in 2024 and lost to Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin by 19,000 votes.
Former Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers announced Monday that he would be running for Senate again, following a narrow loss to Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin in 2024.
"President Trump needs strong allies in the Senate to help him deliver on the mandate given by the American people," Rogers wrote in a post on the social media platform, X.
Rogers lost to Slotkin last year by 19,000 votes. He represented Michigan's eighth congressional district from 2001 to 2015.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Tim Scott have each endorsed Rogers, a former House Intelligence Committee chairman, according to The Detroit News outlet.
“As your next senator, I won’t just represent Michigan, I’ll fight for it,” Rogers said in a launch video.
