GOP Sen. Tommy Tuberville to announce next week whether he is running for Alabama governor

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., is expected to soon announce if he is running for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in Alabama, according to a report.

Tuberville was asked about the possibility of running and he told The Associated Press that he expects to announce his decision on Tuesday.

“It was a hard decision,” Tuberville said, according to the AP.

Tuberville beat former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions in 2020 and went on to win the Senate general election race. Sessions was a longtime U.S. senator from Alabama before Trump named him attorney general.
