Kamala Harris returns to campaign trail, rallies for Tennessee Democratic congressional candidate
The former vice president has kept largely kept a low political profiled since losing the 2024 presidential race as the Democratic Party nominee.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris attended a campaign event Tuesday for a Tennessee congressional candidate – marking her reentry into national politics after losing the 2024 presidential election as the Democratic presidential nominee.
Harris made an appearance in Nashville to rally supporters of Aftyn Behn, the Democratic nominee in the Dec. 2 special election in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, according to POLITICO. The seat was held by GOP Rep. Mark Green, who resigned from Congress earlier this year after winning the district last year by 21 points
Behn is facing off against Republican candidate Matt Van Epps.
Kirsten Allen, a spokesperson for Harris, confirmed her appearance at the campaign event.
This is Harris' first event to mark her reentry into national Democratic politics after she lost to President Trump in last year's election.
Ahead of this month's election in California on redistricting, Harris cut an ad supporting the campaign to pass the measure in her home state, and spoke at a rally with state Democrats days before the election.
