Trump floats repealing tax on Social Security benefits

Former President Donald Trump, the 2024 GOP presidential nominee, suggested repealing the tax Social Security benefits.

“SENIORS SHOULD NOT PAY TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.

According to the Social Security Administration, "about 40% of people who get Social Security must pay federal income taxes on their benefits."

The Tax Foundation projected that repealing the tax on Social Security benefits could cost $1.6 trillion over 10 years.
