President-elect Donald Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping in November to attend his second inauguration on Jan. 20, according to Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

It is unclear if Xi is planning to attend.

Leavitt described the invitation on Fox News as Trump "creating an open dialogue with  leaders of countries that are not just our allies but our adversaries and our competitors too."

He's currently considering inviting other world leaders, according to CBS News. The outlet, cited a source, reported that he invited Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as well.

"World leaders are lining up to meet with President Trump because they know he will soon return to power and restore peace through American strength around the globe," Leavitt said.
