President Donald Trump has publicly signaled his backing for Louisiana Rep. Julia Letlow as she weighs a potential bid for the U.S. Senate in 2026. Trump took to his social media platform to urge Letlow, a Republican representing Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, to enter the race and to pledge his full endorsement if she does.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump encouraged Letlow to “run, Julia, run,” describing her as a “total winner” and praising her conservative record and leadership. He said he has seen her handle challenging situations and believes she would be a strong addition to the Senate. Trump highlighted her commitment to issues such as economic growth, border security, law and order, and support for military and veterans.

Letlow has not yet formally launched a Senate campaign, but in recent days she has been reportedly considering a challenge to incumbent Senator Bill Cassidy. Cassidy, also a Republican, has been a target of criticism from Trump allies for his vote to convict Trump during his second impeachment trial.

Responding to the endorsement, Letlow expressed gratitude for Trump’s support and reiterated her desire to help strengthen the country for future generations.

Cassidy has said he plans to run for re-election. He also already raised about $2 million for the campaign.
